THE STAND OF THE RAF LICHFIELD ASSOCIATION 

Our thanks to W.O. Norman Corbett W.Op/AG RAFVR for the loan of his uniform. Norman joined the RAF in April 1943 and first trained at No 2 Radio School then No 7 Air Gunnery School Stormy Down in South Wales before going on to 3 Advanced Flying Unit Bobbington (now known as Halfpenny Green) near Wolverhampton. Posted to 27 O.T.U. Lichfield in August 43 he joined the Crew of  P/O Quartermaine then to 1661 Heavy Conversion Unit at Winthorpe near Newark for conversion to the  Lancaster bomber. Arriving at 467 (RAAF) Sqdn Waddington in December 1943 he flew 30 Ops bombing Germany and France, posted in June 1944 to 17 O.T.U. Silverstone and satellite Turweston in Northants as an Instructor on Wellingtons leaving the Service in May 1945.
