THE LICHFIELD HERITAGE CENTRE AND ST MARYS CHURCH

The Church situated in the centre of Lichfield was threatened with demolition due to a declining congregation in the late 1970's so it was decided to convert The Nave, Tower and Spire into a Heritage Exhibition to tell the story of Lichfield over the last 2000 years. A Day Centre for Senior Citizens, Coffee and Gift Shop was incorporated but the Dyott Chapel and Chancel remain for Church services and is used regularly. During the course of this year the Exhibition area will be reorganised and a permanent place will be given to the History of RAF Lichfield.
